Viladecans, Joan-Pere

"Balance, chromatic strength, courageous strokes, rationality in the arrangement of objects and elements of nature. Everything is presented in the work of this great artist.

BIOGRAPHY OF JUAN-PERE VILADECANS: Painter born in Barcelona in 1948.

His art is influenced by Antoni Tàpies and Joan Brossa, who, along with Salvador Espriu, were among his friends. Viladecans began with works in which he combined painting with everyday objects. Later on, he would produce a dense painting, applying materials by means of different techniques (Painting on paper, 1973; Green notebook, 1987). In the 70's and 80's he exhibited in national galleries, in Europe and in the United States.

In the nineties he shows his work in Tunisia (1991) and there is a turn in his painting, making use of paper support.

Viladecans' work is presented at the Expo in Seville (1992), in Oporto (1993), at the Exhibition Hall of the Caixa Foundation in Manresa (1999), at the Santa Monica Art Center in Barcelona (1999) and at the Conde Duque Center in Madrid, among other exhibitions also outside Spain.

From the formal point of view, the work of this artist is a constant dialogue between figuration and abstraction. In terms of content, Viladecans' interest lies in nature, time and life".
