Perejaume
PEREJAUME'S BIOGRAPHY
Born in 1957 in Sant Pol de Mar, Barcelona.
Self-taught, Perejaume takes clear influences from authors such as Joan Brossa, with whom he will share a work that fuses painting and poetry.
In 2005, he was awarded the National Visual Arts Prize by the Generalitat de Cataluña, and in 2006 he received the National Plastic Arts Prize from the Spanish Ministry of Culture.
At the beginning of the 70's, he began his first exhibitions, where the influence of the historical avant-garde was evident, having the landscape and the Catalan culture as central axes of his work.
With clear surrealist roots, his interest in culture has transcended his merely pictorial facet, and his poetic production has also become relevant. Since the early 80's, Perejaume has carried out an extensive production that includes books of poetry, essays, reviews and catalogs.
Between 1998 and 1999, he installed the eight circular ceiling panels and the three proscenium panels of the Gran Teatre del Liceu.
