Noland, Kenneth
Kenneth Noland (Asheville, 1924 - 2010) was an American abstract painter who worked with acrylic paint applied directly to canvas, creating works in which the bright juxtaposed colors produced a sense of optical vibration.
His main subjects were concentric circles, chevrons, diamonds and long parallel lists, often leaving large blank canvas spaces as an integral part of the composition.
Noland was interested in adapting the areas of color to the limits of the frame of the painting. As for the formats of his works, the diagonals and the huge rectangular canvases formed by superimposed strips of color stand out.
