Forteza, Rafa
RAFA FORTEZA BIOGRAPHY:
His painting reflects an infinite, inspired, reasoned and free world. Full of energy. A particular world where circular, filiform and irregular shapes are the protagonists.
Rafa Forteza was born in Palma de Mallorca in 1955. Painter, sculptor and engraver, he began his career with a work identified with gestural abstraction, in which fragmentation is a fundamental element and shapes his later production. In the early 1980s, Forteza left this abstraction and ventured into neo-expressionism. At the end of the decade he made a radical break with this entire line, a desire to break away that will be maintained throughout his career. The rupture finally leads him to a period of reconstruction in which he eliminates all figurative references, which he now translates into a mature painting with unique pieces.
Forteza's work, which could also be related to Arte Povera, for its stylized sculptural creations, or to Arte Brut, reflects this pure creativity, uncontaminated by the imitation of already established models.
Forteza began his professional career in the 80s. His work is winning international awards and is increasingly included in the most important national and international collections. His presence in fairs such as ARCO, Art Basel or Art Cologne is continuous. Awarded several times by the Miró Foundation, Rafa Forteza works all over the world.
